NEVADA CiTY, Calif. April 10, 2024 - In early February, a rockslide during a severe winter storm took out a portion of the South Yuba Pipe, the PG&E-owned portion of the South Yuba Canal right below Spaulding Reservoir. Today, we ventured on Bowman Lake Road to bring you photos and video of the damage.

There is a lot of activity in the area, PG&E crews are assessing the stability of the slope and preparing to remove the debris once the steep slope is deemed safe.

The broken pipe is one of several infrastructure failures that currently prevent water from Spaulding Reservoir to be diverted into the Bear River and Deer Creek.

The Bear River has very little water flowing, whereas South Yuba flows are increasing.
