Elaine was honored as one of the top 11-year-old swimmers across the country by Sierra Nevada Swimming (SNS). The awards Banquet was held on January 28th at the Del Paso Country Club in Sacramento.

Brendan Hansen (3-Time Olympic Gold Medalist & Director of Team Services, USA Swimming) spoke at the event. Brendan is a six-time Olympic medalist and Olympic team captain who swam breaststroke in the 2004, 2008, and 2012 Olympic games. He is known for his strong relay performances and taking home a bronze medal from lane 8 in the 2012 games. The athletes and coaches enjoyed hearing him speak.

As an 11-year-old Elaine was ranked 10th nationally in the 200-meter free, with a time of 2:17.77. She ranked 8th in the 400-meter free with a time of 4:49.99. And 6th in the 800-meter free with a time of 10:08.07. She continues to improve on these times as a 12-year-old.

Elaine started her competitive swimming career with NSS at age 5 in August 2016. Her coaches say that her swimming strength is her ability to have a positive and competitive attitude.

She currently holds 18 NSS records, ranging from the 8 and under 1000 yard free, to the 9-10 100-meter fly, and the 11-12 and 400 IM. She is force to be reckoned with in the pool, and has a smile for everyone on the pool deck. Congratulations Elaine, keep up the hard work!

Northern Sierra Swimming provides the only year-round swim team in the Auburn/Grass Valley area.

The team practices at both the Bear River High School Pool and the Memorial Park Pool in Grass Valley.
