The Woodsmoke Reduction Program is a voucher program supported by the California Climate Investments (CCI) Program and administered by local air districts. This program provides vouchers to replace non-EPA certified wood-burning stoves and fireplace inserts with either an EPA-certified woodstove or insert, or an electric heating device. A wood burning fireplace used as a primary source of heat may also qualify.

For certain communities designated by the state and for low-income households, the vouchers may cover the entire cost of the replacement (up to $5,000 for new pellet, wood-burning, and electric stove devices or $10,000 for new electric heat pump installations). A standard voucher of $2,500 for new pellet, wood-burning, and electric stove devices, or $5,000 for new electric heat pump installations is available to all households regardless of income or location within Yuba or Sutter counties to use towards the cost of purchase and installation.

The Feather River Air Quality Management District will be administering the program for devices located in Yuba and Sutter counties. Neighboring counties are also participating and residents outside Yuba or Sutter counties should apply with their local air district.

Home owners and tenant occupied residential homes are eligible. Tenant applicants must obtain owner approval prior to receiving a voucher.

The Program will begin accepting Applications on February 20, 2024. Applications are available:

Vouchers will be issued first come, first served, and expire 4 weeks from the date they are issued. Within the 4 weeks, the applicant must shop around from the list of participating retailers, select a replacement device, and give the voucher to the retailer. Installation is not

required to be completed within 4 weeks. Vouchers are only good at participating retailers and for installations done by licensed contractors; do-it-yourself installations are NOT allowed under this program. Installations must meet local fire and building codes.
